The J Lee Foundation for the Arts & Sciences is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established for the purpose of furthering the cause of an enlightened and prosperous society through the granting of college scholarships to deserving high school graduates in Virginia, West Virginia, and the Carolinas.
It is funded by an endowment from its founder and from the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations who support the Foundation’s scholarship programs.
Staff and resources from the founder’s companies provide the administrative support for the J Lee Foundation, so that 100 percent of outside contributions go into the endowment fund for the Foundation’s scholarship awards.
The J Lee Foundation for the Arts & Sciences Merit Scholarship Award is available to successful candidates that have a demonstrated record of leadership and community service and have displayed an aptitude for academic success.
This is a merit-based program that provides monetary awards to selected recipients on the basis of academic performance in their college studies. Successful candidates receive an award at the end of each semester, based on the number of hours carried and the final grade point average. The J Lee Foundation’s Community Scholarship program is a cooperative effort, working with local high schools in the Greater Beckley/Raleigh County Area. Using criteria set by the Foundation, each participating high school selects one graduating senior per year as their recipient of the J Lee Foundation Community Scholarship. Awards are announced at Spring graduation ceremonies. Follow this link for complete information on the Community Scholarship.
